Messin' With My System
Shrimp Daddy’s seminal recording, “Messin’ With My System”. Inspired in equal measure by the sounds of Little Walter and William Clarke, “Messin’ With My System” is a must have for any blues aficionado’s library.
Shrimp’s powerful baritone voice, rich harp tone and tasty phrasing will carry the listener through tunes filled with both irony and good humour.
They call him “Shrimp Daddy” and he plays the “Blues”.
His deep gravelly vocals, accompanied by the mesmerizing sound of his harmonica, supported by his hard playing band “The Sharpshooters” whisks you to the juke joints of Mississippi, the hard edge blues clubs of Chicago, as well as jumpin’ and swingin’ west coast style. The music of Little Walters, Willie Dixon, Howlin Wolf & Muddy Waters augmented with the unforgettable sound of William Clarke are a few of his many inspirations.
Transplanted from “La Belle Province” this native Montrealer now makes Toronto his home. Shrimp Daddy is a driving force in vocalizing, interpreting and writing Chicago and West Coast jump and swing blues. Michael “Shrimp Daddy” Reid is a must hear!

- The Canadian blues community is coming together on the evening of November 12, in Vancouver, Ottawa, Halifax and Toronto, to show our appreciation for the influence that Kid Ramos has brought to modern blues music and to help him out in his hour of need. Kid has been recently diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma and he needs all of the help he can get to pay for those hefty U.S. medical bills. The prognosis for Ewing sarcoma is not all that great when it is not treated so we want to make sure he gets every opportun
ity to beat this disease. Canadian blues players and fans from coast to coast have come together to do whatever we can to show that we care. Nick Curran died recently and we don’t want to lose another to a disease that can be fought with proper treatment. Musicians in the U.S. do not have medical plans other than what they get through the union... and times are tough for blues and its players.
Cover charge: "Pay What You Can"
Raffles and a 50/50 Draw
ALL proceeds to go to Kid Ramos
